Self plagiarism and how to avoid it 'What's SELF-plagrism? 😳
✍️🏽Self-plagiarism is the act of presenting one's previously completed work as original and new 🆕️ (APA, 2020).
❗️GUYS, it's basically reusing your own work and calling it an original!
If you hand in an ✍️🏽assignment (or even PART of an assignment) that you previously used (and provide no citation📖)...then it's self-plagiarism.
DON'T risk doing it! Trust me, it's not worth it!🚫🚫🚫
To avoid ⛔️self-plagarism⛔️:
1️⃣Cite your previous work...similar to what you would do already for any other source (e.g. in-text citations).
2️⃣Start writing your paper by reviewing your old notes or assignment outlines rather than going to your previous paper. That way, you get a sense of the main ideas to discuss and your can add or expand on those ideas in your own words.
3️⃣Do more research
If you're writing about a topic or issue that you've written on already, dig a little deeper into the literature or use other sources (e.g. articles, guidelines, textbooks) that build or expand on your original perspective.
