May 6, 2020: Cinco de Mayo Celebration in the U.S.: History and Meaning
The Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego, the San Diego Museum of Art and the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies discussed the celebration of Cinco de Mayo in the U.S. and the implications of this celebration on the identity of the Mexican community living in the U.S.
This webinar included the participation of Dr. David Hayes-Bautista, the most renowned academic on the history and meaning of Cinco de Mayo, from UCLA’s Fielding School of Public Health and Cris Scorza, senior director of education and engagement of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, who will discuss themes behind Mexican-American Art.
