The tone on this guitar is reminiscent of the early Martin steel string guitars. It is, in fact, modeled after the 1929 000-28 Martin. The bass is rich and controlled and the mids and highs are punchy and clear. John Greven used French Polish on the entire instrument and satin finish on the neck which adds to the impression of this being and old guitar and allows all the tone to come on out. The wider fingerboard combined with the modified \""V\"" shape of the fingerboard will feel like home to vintage guitar lovers. The shorter scale also gives it a looser, more responsive feel. It was love at first note for me. I played this guitar at the Newport Guitar Festival and immediately reserved it. It always amazes me how John can build a new guitar that sounds 100 years old. I guess all that time repairing the best old Martins & Gibson taught him a thing or two. We had the chance to A/B this against a restored 1930 Martin OM in the shop and it stood up proudly next to it. This is an amazing box offering the best of what's vintage and what's not... - [ Ссылка ]
