The African continent is a blessed one with almost, if not all what you long for. Natural resources are found in abundance in many parts of Africa, and it is interesting to note that Africa holds about 30 percent of the world’s mineral reserves.

Gold or the “yellow metal” which is the most precious mineral to mankind is also found in some parts of Africa as you will find out in this video. According to the United Nations, Africa holds 40 percent of the world’s gold alongside other precious minerals like platinum, diamond, and chromium.
About 20 countries in Africa are engaged in gold mining, and 13 percent of this number is recognized as the largest producer of gold at the global level. However, not all of Africa’s gold is fully exploited due to limited technological know-how and financial constraints.

The exploitation of gold has brought fortunes for these African countries; it is an important source of government revenue. Most of Africa’s riches come from the primary sector dealing with the extraction of raw materials such as gold.

According to the International Monetary Fund, a greater percentage of the Gross Domestic product of countries with gold mines comes from mining activity.
