This look is focused on 1910s style makeup but would have been a fairly regular way to do makeup through the 1920s into the 1930s.
I had said in past videos that there wasn't anything but cream eyeshadow till the 1930s -- but in a 1918 advertisement for Elizabeth Arden's Venetian Eye Shadow, the product is described as a powder. Wow! The first powder shadow! It was probably formulated this way so it wouldn't be as heavily pigmented as the cream shadows.
I am wearing a layer of Nivea cream (invented 1911) mixed with 50 spf mineral sunscreen to approximate "liquid white" makeup of the time.
To approximate the Venetian eyeshadow I used the L.A. Colors "Trendy" palette.
The rouge is from a now defunct Etsy seller who offered historical cosmetics. It's made with alkanet and is a type of makeup worn into the 1920s.
The powder is homemade, talc and cornstarch with pigments. Standard for this era.
