Shree Shree Karunamoyee Kali Temple in the banks of the Adi Ganga(Ancient Ganges) is one of the very few and glowing examples which speak of this traditional practice. Nandadulal RoyChowdhury, a descendant of the 27th generation of the Zaminder Shabarna RoyChowdhury family, founded this temple in 1760 A.D.The idol of Godess Kalika, the all powerful universal mother who created all of us, is installed in this temple and is worshipped daily. The shrine is popularly known as "ADI KALI BARI"(Ancient Abode Of Godess Kalika) or "Karunamoyee Kali Bari".Time marches on.The span of the past 250 years has also sunk into history.To know a particular period of the past is to know what life was like at that time-the people,the society,custom,culture,economy,philosophy and religion.In other words,knowing a period of time gone-by whcih the present has been born out of.We only see the present.The past remains buried in history and the future obscure and unseen.

The history of the temple isa chronicle of 250 years.All that happended were and are predestined.Creation and destructions are twins and work hand in hand.The seed of creationlies dormant in destruction.And yesterday's destruction sows the seed of next creation:the creation carries along with it the destiny of an end,it's own destruction.Todays themselves become yesterdays when tomorrows become todays.The process continues and this moment sinks into the past with the next moment replacing the present one.The flow of time continues and every moment sows the seed for the birth of the next moment along with the fruit it will pluck.
The ground was prepared and the seed was sown 250 years back for what the temple is today.Who knows what the sees of today will give birth to in the future ?
Ma Karunamoyee Ramakrishna Pathachakra-
Free coaching for 29 students in the evening and light meals on six days a week except on Sundays.
Drawing classes.
Spoken english classes.

Music classes.
Study of scriptures like the Vedas, Chandi and Gita to help build character.
Participation of the students of Pathachakra in conducting the evening prayers and hymns of Shree Ramakrishna,Ma Sarada and Swami Vivekanananda.
Special training (including vocational and enterpreneurship) for local women to make them self sufficient is held every Thursday.
Bear the entire expenditure of two students studying in higher classes.
Conducting free educational tours to nearby places for the students of the Pathachakra at least once a year. o.Describing this shrine only as a Kali (The Mother Godess) temple will convey an incomplete idea of the activities of this establishment and hence will not be able to answer the questions placed above.The temple offers several services towards the society and particularly the distressed ones with the sole motto of "Jiba Gyana Shiva Seva" (Serve the poor as you will serve the lord).

India has been known for its rich treasure of spiritualism.In fact it is India whcih propounded and propagated the concept of traditional religion as well as of spiritual consciousness.Every blade of grass and every bit of dust of our country have been sanctified by the pious touch of the holy feet of the saints,sages and prophets born in India from the ancient times.
Cultivation of spritual power through worshipping the formless Brahma or gods and godesses with different images have been practised in India since the ancient times.In fact,the cultivation of spirituali power through the worship of Brahma or gods and godesses aimed at arousing the spiritual power latent in oneself and to achieve this power fully.This practise has come down the generations in India as a tradition since ancient times.



The words "ideas and ideals" of Shree Ramakrishna have a deep significance.These words contain a live and powerful dynamic force which is everlasting,true and ever manifest.When ,how,where and through which group of people or individual will this force manifest itself,is not possible for ordinary people to comprehend.Shree Ramakrishna alone knows it and he arranges for its manifestation whenever he wishes according to his need.And whenever he makes it manifest through any one of us,we become instruments only.

"Service to mankind is service to God" is one of the aspects of Shree Ramakishna's teachings.We have taken up servicing mankind with humility considering service as a religion which Shree Ramakrishna has taught,as our means to worship god.We pray to Shree Ramakrishna to bless us and give us the strength to serve mankind the way he taught the world to do so.By the grace of Shree Ramakrishna and the strength given by him Ma Karunamoyee Sevashram has been able to conduct and complete many acts of service till now.
