The OneSA Movement has accused Parliament of undermining the Constitution and breaking the law. The organisation has labelled the Electoral Amendment Bill before the Home Affairs Committee as unconstitutional. The bill, once passed into law, will put a limit to the number of votes that can be obtained by independent candidates.
Surplus votes will not be counted towards securing more seats in Parliament and would be discarded.
