A big question that I constantly get asked is ‘Mary, how do I properly clean my clothes?’ I want to start a series of how to do exactly that. The first and one of the most important garments are your jeans. It’s not rocket science but there are some important steps to keep in mind. I sell these quality Fidelity jeans in my store, but you can apply these tips to any pair you may have at home. I spoke with the owners of Fidelity and crazy enough, they recommend placing your jeans in the freezer. It is not the first time I have heard this crazy life hack. Place your jeans in the freezer over night or for at least 12 hours, the temperature in your freezer kills the bacteria within the fabric. Some of you may be the type to put your jeans in the freezer, but I am not that girl. There are a couple of other options to squeaky clean jeans without the freezer. First step in doing so, is turning your unwashed jeans, inside out. The reason for doing so is to ensure the color the fabric stays in place. The abrasion also has an impact on the jeans and causes the face of the fabric become worn out. Another step that is crucial to washing your jeans properly is to always wash them in cold water. You can always dry clean your jeans but not all of you have time for that. You always want to consider what you’re washing your jeans with; it should always be similar garments. Do not wash your jeans with towels, cotton or other heavy garments. If you have low quality jeans (nothing wrong with a good pair of $25 jeans) you may be okay with washing your jeans with whatever may be in your laundry basket on laundry day. On the other hand, if you’re spending $200 plus on a pair of jeans you want to take care of them a little bit more. Washing your expensive jeans with towels is probably one of the worst things you can do for them. The lint, debris, and excess fabrics will transfer onto your jeans. Again, turn your jeans inside out, only use cold water and DO NOT PUT YOUR JEANS IN THE DRYER!!! Your jeans will not last like you’d hope if you do so. The dryer is only good for towels, socks, underwear and sheets. Your workout clothes, golf polos, and jeans should never see the inside of a dryer. The heat from the dryer ruins the fabric of your jeans and most importantly the color fades. I will tell you one last time jeans inside out, cold water, don’t wash with heavy items, and AIR DRY! In another video I will show you my personal drying rack, all you do is hang them over a drying rack. I promise if you follow these tip sand trick your stuff will last centuries. If you want your expensive jeans to last you a long time you must put in at least a little bit of effort. Hope you found this video helpful, if you have question then feel free to message me. Stay tuned for the series: Keeping it Clean with me Mary Zarob.
