One of the best underrated railway attractions going is the Didcot Railway Centre in Oxfordshire. A true recreation of the long-gone days of the Great Western Railway, this well-restored museum, complete with two demonstration lines, four stations, carriage shed, restoration shed, main loco shed, and more, is certinally one to return to.
Running was saddle tank ‘Trojan’ and Castle Call ‘Pendennis Castle’, which ran frequent trains up and down the running lines. The centres usual attractions were also open, such as the signalling museum and archive museum.
Well worth a visit if ever in the area. Easily reached by Didcot Parkway Station serves by GWR on the mainline out of Paddington.
