What’s a trend in the stock market? It’s a steadily uptrending or downtrending stock.

Longs want to look for stocks making higher highs and higher lows. It should be steadily uptrending, in a hot sector, with unusually high volume.

Check out the 60-day moving averages. You want the stock to be above as many moving averages as possible. It should also be above VWAP.

Check all those boxes.

The more boxes you can check, the more likely you’ll see the stock gap up and continue into the next day, week, etc.

If you’re checking all the right boxes, hit those afternoon plays! Ideally, the stock trends up into the close, gaps up the next day, and you sell.

Afternoon moves are key for managing your day trades and can help you avoid burning day trades if you’re still under the PDT rule.

Only take that day trade if you get stopped out. Always stick to your stops!
