Weight shifting is a good exercise to practice learning when to shift your weight when you make up-extension turns. During this exercise you will lift the tail of your unweighted ski, which will help you learn to place your weight over the correct ski. Once you learn when to shift your weight, you don't need to lift the tail when skiing.
