“There are different kinds of gifts…” 1 Corinthians 12:4 (NIV)
“Now when Pharaoh had let the people go, God did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, even though it was near; for God said, ‘The people might change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.’ 18 Therefore God led the people around by way of the wilderness…” Exodus 13:17:18 (NASB)
SOLITUDE PREPARES YOU BY…
1. LEADING YOU TO SURRENDER TO GOD
“They stumbled and there was no one to help. 13 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses.
Psalm 107:12-13 (NASB)
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NIV)
2. LEADING YOU TO GOD’S PRESENCE
“O God, my God! How I search for you! How I thirst for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. How I long to find you!” Psalm 63:1 (TLB)
To Encounter God, You Must Be Willing To…
• Make Time To Be With God
“So Moses said, ‘I must turn aside and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burning up!’ 4 When the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush…” Exodus 3:3-5 (NASB)
• Open Your Heart and Obey God’s Word.
“(Yes, I realize that you are descendants of Abraham!) And yet some of you are trying to kill me because my message does not find a home within your hearts.” John 8:37 (TLB)
• To Be Transformed
“Then He said, ‘Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.’”
Exodus 3:5 (NASB)
3. LEADING YOU TO BE EMPOWERED
“Now Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness…And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about Him spread through all the surrounding regions.” Luke 4:1,14 (NASB)
