November 26th, 2015. I had a recording session booked with Afrikan Simba at his home in London. The timing was special, 2 weeks before, Paris just went through its biggest terrorist attack; one of my acquaintances was killed, and my close friends were going through a really hard time.
I shared the situation with Simba; we discussed a bit, then I played him the riddim; he started writing immediately, and 30 minutes later, he was ready. I switched the mic on, and let him do what he does best. The emotion in the studio was very strong, and I couldn't stop myself from crying. One take only. Simba just put the right words on the situation; accusing the overall system instead of pointing the finger at the distressed shooters.
A moment written in my memory forever. We later added the third verse, and I reworked the riddim to better match the vibe and the message.
Respect to Mr Afrikan Simba, aka Nivai Nduka

Lyrics :
I said time well dread, time well dread, yeah
Everyday people on the streets just trying to survive
Now the enemies are attacking their existence and their way of life
Everyone is living in fear and misery
So much tension in the air, feeling of insecurity
I said time well dread, terrorists, o them a put up a fight
I said time well dread, government forces say they're in the right
I said time well dread, the blood of innocent ones has been shed on the streets
I said time well dread, displacement of people who become refugees
The enemy's claiming that they have a very just cause
But why should so many innocent life a fi loss
Heads of government a talk but they cannot agree
Seem like war is going to be the ultimate strategy
That means more loss of life and more blood a go shed
More children orphan, with no parents
If the world is at war that becomes the consequence
Heads of government, ah now time fi repent
Time well dread, terrorists, o them a put up a fight
I said time well dread, government forces say they're in the right
I said time well dread, the blood of innocent ones has been shed on the streets
I said time well dread, displacement of people who become refugees
Man shoulda live in love, to live in love should be the answer
Hatred and war now it a spread like a cancer
The lies from politicians being spread across the media
And the people getting brainwashed by some religious leader
Now it's reached a climax some have chosen to revolt
By killing of innocent people when it's not even their fault
Now the leaders have chosen this means of reaction
That's the way the killers want to get their means of satisfaction
Time well dread, terrorists, o them a put up a fight
I said time well dread, government forces say they're in the right
I said time well dread, the blood of innocent ones has been shed on the streets
I said time well dread, displacement of people who become refugees
Religion and politics destroying mankind
Show me where is the resting place that the righteous will find
Corrupt leaders of the world are acting like they're blind
It's like the whole of them so oblivious to the signs
Peace is what we want, and me seh peace is what we need
Put away the jealousy, the envy and greed
Love is what we want, and me seh love is what we need
But first we haffi get some justice and equality
Time well dread, terrorists, o them a put up a fight
I said time well dread, government forces say they're in the right
I said time well dread, the blood of innocent ones has been shed on the streets
I said time well dread, displacement of people who become refugees
