The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research has announced $7.7 million in funding for 39 research projects across 12 countries in Spring 2018. These projects aim to advance the understanding, measurement and treatment of Parkinson's disease, the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's.
Maggie Kuhl, senior associate director of research communications, and Mark Fraiser, PhD, senior vice president of research programs, discuss the innovative approaches of some of these projects: retinal scans, drug repurposing, pesticide exposure studies, virtual speech therapy and dementia predictors.
The "Ask the PhD" series is intended as a resource for researchers as well as people with Parkinson's and their loved ones. Please consult with your personal healthcare provider to address individual medical questions.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. [ Ссылка ]
