The case is about a holographic will which includes a clause to form a trust for rewarding anyone who finds a cure for rheumatoid arthritis to UCLA's Medical Board's satisfaction. The executor of the estate filed a petition for determining interests, and the court found that the clause does not qualify as a charitable trust and is not a valid private trust. The Attorney General has appealed, arguing that the beneficiary is a single person and thus relevant.
