This is the aspen tree.
The aspen is a medium-sized north American tree.
It has leaves that are anywhere between two and six inches long with flattened leaf stalks and twenty to forty teeth along the outside of the leaf.
The blades are nearly circular.
Aspens are often mistaken for Paper birch trees because of the similarity in bark and trunk and because they grow in the same climate. Birchs have droopier willowish leaves and branches while aspens have the circular leaves described earlier.
The bark is typically white and photosynthetic as it will continue to grow despite losing its leaves.
The aspen fares well in cold northern regions such as the northern United States and Canada.
