UPDATED:
The first leg of the new Delhi - Mumbai Expressway is almost ready. The 1386 km access-controlled expressway is expected to change the Delhi - Mumbai travel experience. And it could start with a smooth ride between Delhi and Jaipur in just 4 hours. We took a test drive on this stretch hitting the top permissible speed of 120 kmph. While it may not be possible to reach this once traffic is allowed, Sohna to Dausa could be a reality in under 2 hours. This stretch also has a provision for 7 helipads to evacuate accident victims. Of course, life in this fast lane will come at a premium and even though the toll has not been finalised, some suggest it could be as much as Rs 2 per km for cars and up to Rs 7 per km for heavy vehicles.
