Thank you to the Traditional Latin Mass Community of Flint for sending us this footage of last night’s Corpus Christi procession through the downtown streets of the city. Ave verum corpus!
“The Eucharist is what gives us the power to live as disciples of Christ,” explained Father Anthony Strouse, Pastor of Saint Matthew in Flint, in his homily during Holy Mass prior to the procession, June 16.
“Our going into the streets is not only a witness to our faith in our Eucharistic Lord, but also a reminder to those who have, for whatever reason, fallen away from the faith, that Jesus loves them, and comes to them, in order that they might return to His fold and receive that same power.”
The Traditional Latin Mass Community of Flint was founded in 1969. Since then the community has lived Catholic life, with episcopal approval, according to the 1962 Missal of St. John XXIII. Hence the Solemnity of Corpus Christi is celebrated on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday, the same day it is celebrated in the Diocese of Rome and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
