Today we're going to take a look at the 12" trailer hub and drum assembly for 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles. This one has an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern. This hub and drum assembly assembly will provide the surface area for your brake shoes to grip when the drum brake is activated. As you can see it is compatible with both electric and hydraulic drum brakes. This trailer hub assembly will fit the E-Z Lube trailer axles and the E-Z Lube axles are the ones that will have the grease zerk fitting on the end of the spindle that allows you to grease the bearings without having to remove this complete hub and drum assembly. It does come with the E-Z Lube compatible grease cap. That'll make lubricating your bearings very fast and easy.
Basically, once this is installed you can just pop out the middle rubber plug and that allows you to gain access to that zerk fitting on the end of the spindle to grease your bearings. Saves you the time of not having to take your whole hub and drum off the axle to get to your bearings. This whole hub and drum assembly will include everything you shown here on the table, even includes the bearing races which are pre installed. You see the outer bearing race right there. If I spin that around on the back you can see the inner bearing race installed right there. It comes with the inner bearing, the outer bearing, the grease seal.
It comes with the E-Z Lube grease cap with a rubber plug and 8 half inch lug nuts. This is a sturdy iron construction. It has a nice zinc enriched paint on the drum to add durability. The bolts themselves are a zinc finish to help resist corrosion. This is certified by US SAE standards and CSA, which are the Canadian standards. Again, the application on this is 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb E-Z Lube trailer axles with the number 42 spindles.
It is compatible with axles from most manufacturers, including Dexter, Lippert and Al-Ko. This is designed to work with a 12" brake assembly. If I turn this around you can see the inside diameter of this drum is 12". The bolt pattern again is a 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern. Weight capacity is 3,500 lb per hub.
When this one is used with a hub on the other side of your axle it'll give your total of 7,000-lb capacity. These parts I'm going to show you where they go in the hub. We'll start with the inner bearing. That's the larger of the two. It's part number 25580. It has an inner diameter of 1.75". It'll go on the back here on the inner bearing race. Drops right in there like that. The grease seal that will hold that all in place has an overall diameter of 3.376. That will go right there. You tap it into place to hold everything. The outer bearing, which is the smaller of the two bearings. That's part number 14125A, has a inner diameter of 1.25". That will drop right into the outer bearing race just like that. Then your zinc plated E-Z Lube grease cap with the rubber plug has a flanged diameter of 2.72". That will tap right in place like that. Then you have the access to remove that plug and go to the zerk fitting on there. For this video I just wanted to show your where these parts go on the hub and drum assembly. When you do put this on for the first time you do want to make sure both bearings are greased heavily and then installed and everything put back together. Once they're installed then from then on what you can do is use that zerk fitting to maintain the grease in those bearings. That also contains 8 1/2" by 20 lug nuts. Those are used to hold your tire and wheel assembly to the hub. Once you put your wheel up on these studs you just go ahead and put your lugs on there and then you'll torque those lugs down to the correct specs for your application. That should do it for the review of the 12" trailer hub and drum assembly for 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles with the 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern.
