President Rodrigo Roa Duterte accepted the credentials of Ambassadors-Designate from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kingdom of Belgium, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United Arab Emirates, Italian Republic, Kingdom of Sweden, State of Israel, and Sovereign Military Order of Malta in a ceremony at the Reception Hall in Malacañan Palace.
In his remarks, President Duterte cited several areas of mutual benefit that the Philippines and the Ambassadors’ respective countries can improve or establish during their diplomatic posting, including bilateral trade, maritime affairs, COVID-19 pandemic recovery efforts, deeper engagement in national defense and regional development monitoring, among others.
At the end of his speeches, President Duterte conveyed his wishes for a fulfilling and productive ‘tour of duty’ throughout the foreign diplomats’ stay, as well as his hope for continued warm and friendly relations of their respective countries with the Philippines.
The President was joined in the ceremony by Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr. and Chief of Presidential Protocol and Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Robert E.A. Borje.
