The Panerai Radiomir 1940 Marina Militare Acciaio PAM 587 is a special edition release of 1000 numbered pieces. The PAM 587 is based on the vintage Panerai reference 6152/1, which was originally designed for the Royal Italian Navy. Its design combines the historic details of vintage Panerai timepieces while having the mechanics of a modern timepiece.
The History:
Beginning in 1860, Guido Panerai & Figlio in Florence, Italy began producing high precision instruments, built for the Royal Italian Navy. In 1938, as Officine Panerai, they began producing wristwatches for the Italian Navy Commandos, with the Radiomir, and later the Luminor. It wasn’t until 1993 that they began to produce versions of the Radiomir, as well as the Luminor for sale to the public internationally.
The Watch:
The Panerai Radiomir 1940 Marina Militare has a 47mm stainless steel case, with a domed plexiglass crystal. It has a sapphire crystal exhibition back, that showcases the P.3000 movement, which has a 3-day power reserve. The Marina Militare text is engraved and filled with lacquer on the sandwich-style dial, and the pencil-style gilt hands are reminiscent of those that adorned early Panerai watches. The 587 has an 8mm crown with an etched OP logo.
The Details:
This Panerai Radiomir 1940 Marina Militare is in very good condition. There are slight wear marks around the case and lugs, which are visible in photos. The original brown leather Panerai strap shows minimal wear. This PAM 587 comes with triple boxes, instruction booklet, certificates booklet, original stickers, rubber bezel protector, Officine Panerai serial number certificate (631/1000), and extra crystal.
