The Nizamuddin Markaz is at the centre of the Covid-19 storm after members of the Tablighi Jamaat religious movement gathered for an event in early March that triggered the massive flare up in the coronavirus cases across the country.
In wake of the consistent spike in cases due to the religious gathering, the Delhi Police filed an FIR against Jamaat chief Maulana Saad for violating social distancing norms. However, Saad has not surrendered yet and nor has he allegedly cooperated with the investigation.
As per the latest development, the Maulana has hired a team of lawyers to file bail pleas amid possibilities of his arrest. This comes after reports emerged that Saad was absconding and evading testing even after two of his relatives tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.
