This video is about Nightmare Alley movie world premiere. Nightmare Alley is a 2021 American neo-noir psychological thriller film directed by Guillermo del Toro and written by del Toro and Kim Morgan. It is based on William Lindsay Gresham's 1946 novel of the same name. Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, Mary Steenburgen, and David Strathairn star in the film. Following the 1947 adaption, this is the second feature film adaptation of Gresham's novel. Stan Carlisle, played by Bradley Cooper, is an ambitious carny who teams up with a corrupt psychiatrist, Dr. Lilith Ritter played by Blanchett, who turns out to be more dangerous than he is.
Along with J. Miles Dale and Cooper, Del Toro acts as a producer on the picture. Del Toro confirmed the project's development in December 2017, his first since the Academy Award-winning The Shape of Water. The film's cinematographer is Dan Laustsen, while the film's composer is Nathan Johnson, who takes over for Alexandre Desplat. Principal photography began in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in January 2020, but was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production began in September 2020 and ended in December of that year.
On December 1, 2021, Nightmare Alley had its world premiere at Alice Tully Hall in New York, and Searchlight Pictures is set to release it theatrically in the United States on December 17, 2021.
