In line with Brunei Darussalam Ministry of Health’ agenda to develop career pathways in nursing roles in Brunei Darussalam, the PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam engaged in developing Master of Nursing course.

Master Graduate nurses are a proven modern clinical career pathway as a clinical nurse specialists, managers, hospital administrators that saves healthcare cost as well as improves quality of healthcare delivery.

A dramatic increase in cost of managing chronic disease (Department of Health and Human Services, 2009), different qualities of care delivered and inadequate number of physician workforce (Freed & Stockman, 2009) contributed the global burden in health care. Unfortunately, the health care system in Brunei Darussalam is not an exception to these problems. As the scope of health care becomes broader, there is the need for more specialised health professionals. Therefore, the Masters in Nursing is becoming more acknowledged by health care organisations not just a way to solve these problems, but also as a professional carrier development in health care system.
