And now time for a type of bus I had always seemed to have bad luck getting any long form video from, well today is the exception to the rule, we have a VDL DB300, or Wright Gemini 2DL.
DW425 was new in 2011 as part of a batch of VDLs new to Clapton (CT) garage for uptake on routes 38 & 242. The bus was soon re-allocated to Tottenham (AR) garage for routes 76 & 243. It's final garage of allocation was across the river to Dartford (DT) for routes 99, 229, 269 & 401.
Today's journey sees us on the long-standing and winding route 229, which runs from Thamesmead, Thamesmere Drive to Sidcup, Queen Mary's Hospital via Crossway, Abbey Wood, Belvedere, Erith, Bexleyheath, Bexley, Hurst Road & Sidcup. The route dates back to 1951, and at varying points in its history reached Woolwich, Orpington, Farnborough & Green Street Green.
DW425 is powered by a Euro 5 Cummins ISBe 6-cylinder engine coupled to a Voith DIWA automatic gearbox. Enjoy!
Start: Thamesmead, Lister Walk
Finish: Belvedere, Gilbert Road
