Chechen refugees in Ingushetia - part of the Commonwealth of
Independent States (CIS) - are continuing their daily struggle for
survival. The estimated 120,000 refugees - mainly women, children
and the elderly - live in tent camps. Despite their hard life, the refugees are trying to keep their spirits up. In their honor, a peace festival was held in the capital of Ingushetia, Nazran on September 8th and 9th. Thousands of people gathered in the central stadium to pray for peace for the Caucasus and to witness an improvised show featuring Chechen national dancers and pop singers.
