The Korean War is sometimes referred to as the "The Forgotten War." It was not forgotten by the one-point million American's who served there or the families and loved ones of the fifty-thousand Americans who gave their lives. The war lasted from 1950-1953. America led a United Nations armed force sent to halt the attempted take over of South Korea by the North Korean army with support from the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union. The war ended in a stalemate with the country remaining divided at the 38th Parallel. The Korean War Memorial was dedicated on July 27, 1995. It's located about two-hundred yards southeast of the Lincoln Monument.
