In these troubled times we find ourselves in (I needn’t say why) a ray of light is needed to bring positivity within the bus community. Enter 18493. Absolute beast of a vehicle being caned on the 269 back in December 2017 prior to the Arriva Dartford takeover. Two buses had died in front of this sod hence he had the challenge of a half hour gap on his shoulders! This was new to Catford for the 47 in 2006, moved to Bromley in 2016 and remained on the 269 right until the tender change. May 2018 saw the 474 new tender being run by West Ham depot and this batch was transferred up (minus 18495) alongside some of Bromley’s former favourites to initially run on the route - at the last minute this was ditched and they were used on their other routes whilst 12 reg E400s were drafted in for the 474 which were themselves replaced by Smart Hybrids and exiled to Plumstead with the loss of the 104. Stagecoach tridents (including this batch) in general virtually became extinct with the loss of the 158 to Arriva! Enjoy and stay safe!
