Kathmandu, Nepal, June 07 (ANI): Nepali Congress Chief Sher Bahadur Deuba became the 40th Prime Minister of Nepal after winning 388 votes out of 558 in the Parliament on Tuesday. It is the 4th time that Deuba will be holding the highest position of Nepal, having previously served on the designated post in 1995, 2001 and 2004.The move comes in line with the agreement signed between both parties of the ruling coalition in 2016.The agreements stated that Prachanda would step down after the conclusion of the local polls. Deuba was the sole candidate for the coveted post, as the main opposition and other parties did not put up any candidate. The government led by Deuba is supported by the Nepali Congress itself, along with Maoist Centre, Forum Loktantrik, Rashtriya Janata Party, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum and other minor parties. The Nepali Congress and Maoist Centre have also sealed a three-point agreement with the Rashtriya Janata Party, promising to address their demands. Following this agreement, the agitating forces that united last year will now go to local polls on June 28.
