5.13 trad at the Beaver. Adrian Montano working on the 4th all gear ascent of Southern Arizona's hardest trad line to date, Golden Beaver Left.
Originally freed in 1986 as a mixed route & graded 5.13c by Hidetaka Suzuki, in 2009 a couple local Mount Lemmon climbers started putting effort into skipping the bolts at each crux, & leading it all on gear. They were eventually successful, and decided to leave the 4 existing bolts for climbers to make their own choice in how they want to climb it.
A decade later, the modern day Beaver Wall crew started Spring of 2019 off with some big whips & small crimps, sans bolts, despite other locals trying the route with tauntingly prehung draws.
Tucson, Arizona.
