The footage, captured by a local herder, shows that several strong-bodied wolves are leading the way on a vast swath of snow-blanketed land, followed by smaller juvenile wolves, with the leader of the pack bringing up the rear.
Taking charge of the expedition, the leading wolf skillfully burrowed through the one-meter-thick snow, creating a tunnel for the rest of the pack to traverse. Every few meters, the leading wolf would poke its head out to observe and assess the direction ahead.
According to wildlife conservation officials in the Kanas scenic area, the Altay Mountains region, where the scenic area is located, has experienced frequent snowfall which resulted in substantial accumulations of snow, posing difficulties for wild animals to forage in the wild. The scenic area has pledged to closely monitor the weather conditions and their potential impact on animal activities.
