EPK Danisa Fagan
This album is special in that it showcases the wonderful voice of Danisa Fagan singing in four languages, in her native Spanish as well as in French, Portuguese and English. I discovered Danisa singing in her native Buenos Aires and approached her after the performance. Speaking in Spanish, I introduced myself, complimented her on her singing, and told her that she needed to sing in the United States, in New York City. I was struck by her stage presence, beauty and charisma, as well by her strikingly original voice. After several months of planning and booking gigs (something I had never done before), Danisa and her guitarist Pablo Maitia (a great musician in his own right) came to the US and played a series of gigs, one which led to a connection with the renowned singer and producer, Roseanna Vitro. Roseanna heard Danisa sing in North Jersey in July 2014 and approached me with an offer to produce a solo CD for Danisa. The journey took a new, somewhat unexpected, turn, but in the end what began as a simple suggestion “you should be performing in the US” led to 29 gigs from Manhattan and Staten Island to Northern and Central Jersey and culminating in eight shows in Cape May, NJ accompanied by the guitarist, Jerry Topinka. Danisa’s debut CD, “The World of Romance”, is supported by such renowned musicians as Randy Brecker, Tim Ries, Ed Howard, EJ Strickland, Trio da Paz (Nilson Matta, Daduka da Fonseca and Romero Lubambo), Nathan Eklund, pianist and arranger Mark Soskin, John Benitez and his son, Steve, and Emedim Rivera. In addition, the CD includes four songs recorded and performed in Buenos Aires with the musicians Hernan Valencia, Walter Rios, Palo Penayo, Pablo Maitia, Hernan Ceballos, Jorge Rabito, Gerardo Pipri Solnie, Marcos Dario Cabezaz and Javier Turko Mokdad.
Danisa is a Latin Melody Gardot and has a voice that evokes Billie Holliday.
