This is a common mistake I see from people trying to splitpush. It's particularly bad if you're a support because you'll die easily once spotted. Let your creeps go first and take your time to decide if it's safe to keep going. If it's dangerous, just wait in the trees for a bit. Only when you know it's safe can you constantly walk down the lane.
