Thanks to Tony at All American Firearms, we got to test fire a GSG MP40 from ATI. The GSG made MP40 is a slightly different semi-auto version of the German Machinenpistole, the MP40, used during World War Two. How different is this GSG made MP40? This video is a review of the GSG MP40 pistol.
During WW2, the German military was interested in adopting innovative weapons technology. They adopted the MP38 which derived from the MP36. They then adopted the MP40, which was the same design but simpler to manufacture. The Allies nicknamed the MP40 the "Schmeisser" (after weapons designer Hugo Schmeisser who held a patent on the MP40 magazine but did not develop the MP40 itself) The MP40 would be designed for mechanized crew, but soon found it's place on the battlefield as an urban warfare weapon. It is estimated that 1.1 million MP40s were produced by the end of World War Two. It remains to be an iconic weapon which can easily be identified with the second world war and is seen in just about every historical movie and video game. Is it a must have for the enthusiast and history buff?
