Outline: Set in the countryside of São Paulo, Brazil, Charcoal tells the story of a family who welcomes a stranger into their home. The stranger is revealed to be a notorious Argentine drug lord, wanted by law enforcement agencies. The family, now aware of the situation, must navigate living with a dangerous criminal while concealing his true identity from their neighbors.

As they struggle to keep up appearances and maintain their routine, tensions rise within the household as they grapple with the consequences of their actions. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies continue their search for the fugitive drug lord, putting the family at risk of being caught.

Charcoal is a gripping drama, written and directed by Carolina Markowicz in her feature debut, that explores themes of family, loyalty, and survival. The film stars Maeve Jinkings (Love, Plastic and Noise), Camila Márdila (The Second Mother) and Cesar Bordon (Wild Tiles) in lead roles. As the family’s relationship with the criminal deepens, they are forced to confront their own moral compass and make difficult decisions to protect themselves and their loved ones.
