Some friends and I were discussing long songs and long dungeons, and came up with the idea to try to run vet dungeons in the duration of a song (ideally one that sort of fits the theme of the dungeon). Here I took this a step further, though admittedly the song is strategically chosen to be long enough.
While not a difficult dungeon by the standards of a competent group, running the whole dungeon solo without ever dying took some practice (who says I'm competent?). I did several solo runs here while the Stormfist mask was available a few weeks ago, and came back today for this run. I've gradually gotten my time down from 20ish minutes to 11ish in this run.
My performance at the end boss here was embarrassingly bad, even reminiscent of some pug groups I've seen. It can be awkward depending where she decides to run off to at the beginning - my favourite is when she stays put, as then I have plenty of space in every direction to avoid the shockwave without being pushed by a twister. Today she decided to go to the most awkward location of all, so I had to reposition her, and even then it was to a spot I'm not used to.
Even with all that in consideration, the fight was terrible, and I was getting caught by twisters far more than I'd like. At one point I'm so confused I cast revealing flare thinking it's my execute, even though I specifically got rid of beam for this fight.
That said, overall, I'm fairly pleased with this run, considering it's a minute shorter than my previous best (from 12:28 down to 11:24). I'm pretty confident this can be done in under 10 minutes, though I doubt I'll be the one to prove this...
A note about skipping: I skip the first boss and any trash packs that I know I can run past without aggroing. My (self-imposed, and subject to change on a whim) rule is that I have to kill everything I aggro, so no running to the next door and wiping or anything like that. Also no sneaking past with invisibility etc.
Gear is Deadly + MS/Bahsei + Thrassian Stranglers. I have a few different skill setups, specifically one for each of the last two bosses and an alternative trash setup for the long run of adds on the way to Yalorasse (I could probably find a use for it in other parts too, but I was concerned about adds getting stuck on rocks/not getting up a ramp etc).
