Even though I talk about women in this video, men are absolutely capable of monkey branching as well, maybe they want to trade up to a younger, more beautiful girlfriend. It can happen from both genders. However, from what I've seen in our society, monkey branching is almost exclusively a female behavior and I think part of it is because they’re the more privileged gender when it comes to dating, so they have a lot of opportunities to do so. I do believe that if the roles were to be reversed, if men were the more privileged gender then we would see more monkey branching from men as well. The other part of this equation is about self-preservation which I explain in this video.
