Kabir Das was one of the greatest poets and saints ever known in India. He was born in 1398 AD in Uttar Pardesh, India. Kabir Ji's bani is incorporated in Guru Granth Sahib, the scripture of Sikhism with over 500 verses.
Sant Kabir believed that human beings are equal and being one with God is the ultimate aim of every individual. His love and devotion towards the Supreme One clearly reflects in his poetry. The verses or dohas of Guru Kabir are still read by people with admiration. Sikhs also follow the teaching of Kabir, as in Gurmat, Kabir, Nanak, Ravidas, Bhatts all are same and all are treated as Guru and Sikhs bow before Guru Granth Sahib which include the teaching of many who had similar thoughts about God.
It is said that, when Kabir Ji headed his way for heaven, a fight took place between the Hindus and Muslims over the issue of performance of his last rites. Eventually, in the memory of the great Kabir, his tomb as well as a Samadhi Mandir were constructed, which are still standing erect next to each other at Maghar.
