New South Wales health authorities were left scrambling last night after a Sydney aged care facility was exposed to COVID-19 when an elderly resident came into contact with a health worker responsible for transferring sick international travellers.
The resident from Anglicare’s Brian King Gardens in Castle Hill has been identified as a close contact after the health worker tested positive to the virus.
Authorities are working to uncover how the major protocol breach occurred – which saw the same worker dealing with infected patients and vulnerable people.
Residents and staff at the Sydney aged care home have so far returned negative tests.
