President Benigno S. Aquino III participated in a dialogue with members of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) together with Chilean President Sebastian Piñera, Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihiko Noda and New Zealand Prime Minister John Key.
The APEC leaders were divided into five groups and the Philippines under Group 3 discussed the following topics: food security, regional economic integration, innovative growth, supply chain connectivity and small, medium and micro-sized enterprises (SMMEs) development and financing.
Jollibee Foods Corporation chairman and CEO Tony Tan Caktiong acted as facilitator for President Aquino and overall co-facilitator of the group.
The APEC leaders welcome and stress the importance of increasing constructive involvement of the private sector in APEC process and encourage further collaboration with ABAC and other stakeholders.
ABAC Philippines is also represented by A. Magsaysay Inc. President and CEO Doris Magsaysay-Ho and Ayala Corporation chairman and CEO Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala.
Philippines will host an ABAC meeting early next year in Manila to also show what the country has done in terms of promoting trade and the economy.
