In this video you will learn what happened during the civil war, Biafra and the massacre in city of Asaba
When Nigeria achieved independence in 1960, it was a three-region federal state. The South has been divided into the Yoruba-dominated Western region, the Igbo-dominated Eastern region, and the Hausa/Fulani-dominated Northern region. (Nigeria also includes more than two hundred other ethnic groups in addition to the three largest groups: Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa.)
The fear that one region could be more powerful than another and gain control over federal assemblies and the allocation of the country’s resources led to contested census counts as well as elections troubled by fraud and intimidation in 1964 and 1965.
