In this video, Chris Creed goes over some early season browse options for Whitetails. Hunting deer in the early season, before acorns are dropping is all about food!

Our favorite Early Season Browse for Deer Hunting is Jewelweed. Jewelweed is also a preferred food source for whitetails, especially in dry years, deer get most of their water from green food sources and jewel weed is one way they collect water intake. The plant is naturally wet and can be identified by its translucent stems and It’s leaves are alternate, oval shaped, and have relatively sharp teeth.

If you are out scouting and notice browse pressure on any of these early season food sources, you may consider getting some cameras up to see what deer are browsing in that area.
