Planning and managing Kanban or Scrum methodology projects using cards and boards and you need a place to organize, plan and track the work? Microsoft Project gives you the ability to create and manage cards, then organize those and assign work in sprints. Microsoft Project is a project management tool, so it's purpose-built to give you multiple ways to view your project information. Also, you can use the enterprise Resource pool to assign people to work and ultimately to track and fix under- and over-allocation.
Similarly, since Microsoft Project is a full featured project management tool, you can blend together elements of waterfall and Sprint projects, giving you a full picture of how your project will happen.
Finally, since it is Microsoft Project online, the project information all rolls up through the Project Center, providing visibility across projects and programs.
Project's Sprint planning tools aren't equivalent to the full fledged capabilities you get in Azure DevOps or JIRA. Those tools are built around capturing and organizing the epics, features, stories, tasks, and other elements of the Sprint. At the same time, these aren't project management systems. So there are pros and cons to using Microsoft Project Online or these other tools.
Microsoft Project Professional gives you several boards to work on, including the task board, and the Sprint board.
Microsoft Project Professional as part of Microsoft Project Online, has built in capabilities for Sprint based project planning and tracking. It's great for light Kanban or Scrum based planning. It rolls up through Microsoft Project Online reporting and it gives visibility to projects, resources and relationships to other projects.
Tactical Project Management systems like Microsoft Project, Microsoft Azure DevOps, and JIRA can all be organized using UMT360 as the Strategic Portfolio Management system to drive business strategy and enterprise performance.
