In a multicentre stimulation mapping study, Lu et al. highlight the critical role of the ventral precentral gyrus in the speech circuit, and of two distinct functional peaks in the posterior superior temporal gyrus and the pars triangularis in the naming circuit. These patterns are consistent across English, French and Mandarin.
