About Dr. Alka Pande
Dr Alka Pande is a prolific writer on Indology and art history and is the author of several books. She has been working in the area of gender, identity, visual arts and Indian aesthetics. She has been responsible for curating several significant and perceptive exhibitions in India and abroad, and given a name to some of the most upcoming and influential artists, photographers and sculptors. Recipient of the Charles Wallace Award in 1999-2000, Dr Pande completed her post-doctoral studies in critical art theory from Goldsmith College, University of London. Her significant works include: From Disco Lights to Mustard Fields; Indian Erotica; Masterpieces of Indian Art; Ardhanarisvara: The Androgyne Probing the Gender Within; The New Age Kamasutra for Women; Indian Art - The New International Sensation, The collector's handbook; Leela ; Hemi Bawa. Dr Alka Pande is currently a Consultant Arts Advisor and Curator of the Visual Arts Gallery at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
