In February 2023, DNA testing revealed a connection between Mary Agnes's surviving family and relatives of Jeanette Burchard, a Florida resident who passed away in 2003 at the age of 75. Although Jeanette Celarek Derris Anderson, Mary Agnes's adoptive mother, has not been formally accused, Mary Agnes's daughter, Terri Arnold, expressed her suspicions about Anderson being involved in the kidnapping and admitted feeling "anger" towards her since the discovery of her mother's true identity.
