St. Petersburg marked Russian Flag Day on 22 August.
The celebrations started in the Peter and Paul Fortress with a traditional midday gun salute.
After the flag-raising ceremony a concert featuring local bands took place inside the fortress.
Flag Day celebrations, with street festivals, rallies and sport competitions, were held in every district of the city.
