In this detailed guitar tutorial I'll be showing you everything you need to know about the Half diminished chord and half diminished improvisation, also called the m7b5 chord on guitar. I'll teach you what the m7b5 chord is made of, and also how to apply it over a ii v i minor chord progression. We'll explore some ii v i half diminished magic ;-)

You'll learn to play half diminished guitar chord inversons from the D-string, m7b5 chords from the A string and from the E-string.
Then we'll go over to some great half diminished improvisation. Therefore you'll learn the half diminished arpeggio and several half diminished licks guitar.

We'll apply our half diminished trick again and will use the m7b5 arpeggio guitar licks over the entire minor ii v i improvisation.

I've made a ii v i minor licks tab pdf, which you can download from the link in thsi info box. Please read the short download instructions.

So by using solely half diminished arpeggios we can create tons of minor ii v i lines. The sound we get from only playing m7b5 arpeggio guitar is truly refreshing. The V7 chord will be altered, so we get a b9 and a b13 as well, which sounds great in a ii v i minor chord progression. Also the im chord turns into a m6 chord, which makes for a modern jazz sound. Great timbre!
