Simon is the Pro Vice Dean for Research Impact and Innovation in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, King's College London and a senior academic in the Department of Digital Humanities. As Director of Digital Consulting he works with major cultural institutions across the world to assist them to transform their collections and online presence. In 2012, Simon published the Balanced Value Impact Model. Simon is part of the AHRC/British Library funded Academic Book of the Future research team. He is currently working on a new book Delivering Impact with Digital Resources due in Spring 2016 from Facet Publishing.
Title of Keynote: Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre – How understanding context, indicators and strategic direction can make an impact not a car crash.
In his presentation Simon discusses the three stages of planning needed to move towards the right sort of impact with our digital content, as opposed to a car crash of wasted resources and opportunities. Within his keynote he covers the Academic Book of the Future, the REF2014, the digital humanities and how we can plan for impact using elements of his Balanced Value Impact Model.
