SAVORY SCONES (eggless) - THE BEST, most delicious, soft, melt-in-your mouth, flaky scones! 😍😍
Ingredients:
3 3/4 cup (450 g) all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp (10 g) baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
4 oz (115 g) unsalted butter, cold, diced
4.5 oz (120 g) bacon, diced
4 tbsp scallions, chopped
7 oz (200 g) gouda cheese, grated
9 oz (250 g) heavy cream
about 1 oz (30 g) heavy cream for brushing on top

Preheat oven to 400 F (200 C).Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Fry bacon for about 3-5 minutes (until the grease is released and 1 minute more). It shouldn't be crispy. Set aside to cool.
Combine flour and baking powder. Stir in salt and black pepper.
Add cold butter, work into flour mixture with fingers until the mixture is crumbly and fairly even-textured. There will be a few larger chunks.
Stir in bacon, scallions and gouda. Stir well.
Add heavy cream.
Form the dough until it comes together and transfer to prepared baking sheet.
Use your fingers to press the dough into a circle (about 2 cm high) ,then cut into eight wedges.
Arrange wedges 1-in apart, brush with heavy cream on top.
Bake in preheated oven for about 15 minutes.
